I have the honor to report

follows :-

There is

no objection whatever

to the acceptance of any of the

proposals of the French Port office (which all relate merely to matters of detail) with one exception, as to which I have some doubt.

This exception is the latter part of No. 5, as to the abolition of the 14d. Tariff. Such a change would necessitate revising

all the rates by

French Packet, and the rates by British Packet to France, Spain and Portugal:
